Leadership in Global Higher Education
June 7, 2025
Call for registration
Leadership in global higher education faces many challenges including managing in a highly competitive environment that impacts university rankings, the research performance of academics, and an ever more complex series of accountabilities to society producing tensions between national and international institutional priorities. The image of ‘leadership’ in this world can often be negatively caricatured as a career for opportunists or an unwanted duty for the research focused professor. It remains important, however, to explore ways to broaden and reimagine the meaning of university leadership as a shared, social, ethical and collegial responsibility rather than an elite and compartmentalised activity. This one-day conference will bring together an international group of academics and university leaders to explore many of these issues and questions through keynotes, a discussion panel and parallel paper presentations.
