MA in Global Higher Education Students Participate in HERA 2026 Higher Education Academic Conference

On 13–14 June 2026, the Higher Education Research Association (HERA) 2026 Conference, jointly hosted by Peking University and Tsinghua University, was held in Beijing.  A number of current and graduated students of the Master of Arts in Global Higher Education (MAGlobalHE) programme attended the conference.

Participants included current MAGlobalHE students BIAN Jingxiao, LI Siying, LU Han, WANG Jiawen, YE Qingfeng, ZHANG He, ZHANG Xinyu, and ZHANG Zijun, as well as alumnus WANG Wenqiang.

Some of them delivered research presentations, while others participated as research project collaborators or as student ambassadors of the SDGxEL project.

On 13 June, sessions were held at Peking University. A team of MAGlobalHE students gave an oral presentation on Panel 7 and received feedback and recognition from Prof Simon Marginson.

On 14 June, the group moved to Tsinghua University for the HERA Young Scholar & Doctoral Student Forum, where they attended academic presentations and poster sessions, as well as exchanged research ideas with young scholars from different regions of the world.

Outside the conference sessions, students also toured the campuses of Peking University and Tsinghua University, immersing themselves in the scholarly atmosphere of these two top-tier institutions. Participating students expressed that the conference not only provided valuable hands-on experience in academic presentation but also broadened their understanding of Asian higher education and deepened their awareness of contemporary issues in the field. Many extended their gratitude to EdUHK’s Centre for Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies (CHELPS) and their supervisors for their support, and noted that this experience would continue to inspire their future academic endeavours.

The Beijing trip showcased the active involvement of MAGlobalHE students in international academic exchanges and added valuable experience to their professional and research development. The programme team wishes them continued passion for exploration and every success in their future academic journeys.
